As for myself, my dreams for the future have changed many times over the course of my adolescence, and for all I know, they could be completely different a year from now. When I was thirteen I wanted to be a rock star in a heavy metal band. Actually, I still wouldn’t mind that. But at the same time I want to be a renowned graphic designer. I also wouldn’t mind being a poet or a writer or an architect or a studio musician or a carpenter. However, the one thing that’s never changed for me is the concept of finding good ol’ true love. Cheesy, I know. What can I say, I’m a hopeless romantic. If things go how I want them, someday I’ll share a decently spacious house with a loving wife. We’ll make pancakes together on Saturday mornings and pastrami sandwiches for each other to eat at work. I’ll park my cranberry red, fuel-efficient, and stylish vehicle in the driveway and attend numerous lively and fabulous same-sex weddings and lunch dates at which people fawn over my gorgeous wife and I, saying how much like Ellen DeGeneres and Portia DeRossi we are. I’ll have as many cats as I please and I’ll be in charge of an art museum or a theater or a graphic design company. I’ll have 1000 thread count bedsheets and a clean refrigerator stocked with healthier, yet still delicious, food. I will get enough sleep every single night, and only write journals or papers if I so please. I’ll be in shape and not run out of breath walking from one end of a campus to another. I will have a few very nice guitars and a nice little nook to play them in. I’ll have a nice big washing machine and dryer, and detergent that makes my wonderful collection of clothes smell like they’ve been blessed by the baby Jesus of clean linens.
